Acapulco Spring Break Optional Side Trips

Do at least one of these. I know you're going to get bombed every day, but seriously, we are talking about some of the best beaches, and clearest water in the ENTIRE world..so take advantage!

Party Yacht (Booze Cruise)

Enjoy a 2 hour open bar, all you can drink cruise aboard a 90 foot privately chartered yacht. As it is at sunset, bring your camera for amazing, sweeping views of Acapulco Bay, the hotel zone, and the Pacific sunset.

CC Waterpark

Yeah, laugh it up. But, you'll get a killer tan here. Since we don't recommend swimming in the ocean in Aca due to pollution, try it. $10 to get in, $5 if you have a party package.

Diamante Beach Area

While the Condesa Beach area is where the action is at, the Diamante area of Acapulco is not only quieter & cleaner, it offers Acapulco's best beaches & water sports. Diamante is home to Acapulco's most exclusive resorts & hotels, and is a much newer development area.

Take a cab (negotiate prior to entering) down to the Diamante Beach area. The water is clean down there, and you can rent a jet ski in front of any hotel. If you're confused what area this is in, just ask for a cab down to the Acapulco Princess Hotel. It's located in Diamante. It's worth a cab ride & a visit.

Isla La Roqueta

Isla La Roqueta is an enjoyable day trip to an island off the coast of Acapulco, and really the only place you can go snorkeling.

You can book this tour at most hotel tourist desk areas by the bell hops. Expect to pay about for transportation & snorkeling, and bring about for some drinks at one of the beachside stands. This is one of the most fun things you can experience in Acapulco.

At first glance, this trip doesn't look like that much fun, but it really is. For one, you get out on the water, and secondly, you get to visit an area that isn't packed with tourists. We like stuff that gets you away from the constant "boom, boom, boom" of spring break beats 24-7, plus it gets you a killer tan in the water.

We know you'll be at one of the clubs until 4 or 5 a.m. every night, but one night, if you really want to take home a great tan to show off, book this tour towards the end of your stay in Acapulco. We're amused that so many people go to Aca more tan at the beginning of their spring break than at the end because of the amazing nightlife. La Roqueta makes sure that doesn't happen to you.

Deep Sea Fishing

The deep sea fishing in Acapulco is very exotic. You can set this up beach front with a barking vendor, or, to be somewhat safer, book it with your hotel tourist desk. Deep sea fishing in Acapulco only makes sense if you have at least 4 people, since the price to charter a yacht is definitely expensive.

Expect to pay $80-$200 per person for a half to full day, with a guide, yacht, and all gear. While the price seems quite high, you'll also get to experience incredible deep sea fishing on a real fishing yacht, catching sailfish, marlin, and other gigantic fish, while having a lifetime experience doing it. You get what you pay for when it comes to fishing, so book the best available.

Cliff Divers

This exciting evening takes place at the La Perla restaurant, which overlooks the cliffs from where the daring cliff divers of La Quebrada risk their lives every night.

The divers climb to a height of 30 meters, pray at the altar of the Virgin of Guadeloupe, and dive off the cliff at the precise moment when the tide brings in the large waves.

Shotover Jet Boat

A thrill seekers adventure. 25 foot jet boats take you through a winding river going about 60 miles per hour, and then turn you on a dime! About $50 per person.

Private Yacht Excursions

The President of our Company's Executive Assistant Christina mentioned this to us as being an incredibly fun thing to do in Acapulco, since she & her friends have done it.

Basically, you can charter a 40-50 foot private leisure yacht with a captain for about $400 for the day. This sounds like a lot, but if you do the math & split it up amongst, say, 8 people, $50 makes a lot of sense.

Getting out on a yacht is really the only way to experience ocean swimming as well since it's not really safe to swim in the Condesa Bay area (hotel district) in Cancun because of water pollution concerns.

Los Delfines Center - Swim with the Dolphins

Swim with the Dolphins: again, ask at your hotel front desk to book this activity. There are two different swim with the dolphins to choose from, the "pet the dolphins" - which sucks, and the "interactive" which means they drag your sorry ass around the pool and play with you in the water. It'll be $120, but seriously fun. Do this at the Los Delfines Center in Acapulco.

This activity includes water instruction, then with the dolphins you'll get to hold them, do a dolphin kiss, drag you around with you holding their dorsal fin, and of course, the foot push where you stick your feet straight out, and they push you forward.

The dolphins are gentle, and follow the trainer's orders. They always come across like big dogs to us, ready to be petted & held.

Bungee Jump

We're not going to spell this all out for you. You can book this by asking for directions from the front desk of hotel. What's cool about the one in Aca is that it overlooks the ocean.

Acapulco Bay Beach Walk

While this isn't an activity that you have to pay for, sometimes the best things in life are free of charge. One day, after you've sweat off your drunken stupor, clamber down to the beach for a stroll along the Condesa Bay beach area.

Walking from the Playa Suites down to the Fiesta Americana (check out their spectacular, bayview pool that is perched cliff-side) is fun, a great way to get a non-boring tan, and good exercise from all the Dos Equis Beer you've put away on your spring break vacation.

Jet Ski

Jet Skiing is something we don't recommend in front of your hotel if you are in the Condesa beach area. The water isn't that clean, even though there are of course people swimming and jet skiing in it. Take a cab (negotiate prior to entering) down to the Diamante Beach area. The water is clean down there, and you can rent a jet ski in front of any hotel.

If you're confused what area this is in, just ask for a cab down to the Acapulco Princess Hotel. It's located in Diamante.

Shopping and Haggling at the Acapulco Flea Market

Walk out in front of your hotel (and negotiate before entering the cab) for a ride to the downtown market area. You can buy everything from Gucci knock off purses to Mexican blankets to fresh seafood.

Don't worry about speaking Spanish….it's funny, but in almost every culture, when it comes to price & money, everyone somehow knows at least some English. Whatever price they start at, offer half. Usually, you will settle halfway in the middle with them (about 25-30% off of the original asking price is usually fair).
