Snorkeling
Vallarta Adventures provides our truly first-class snorkeling experience trip. The trip departs from the marina in Nuevo Vallarta to the North of town, and you board a 60 foot private catamaran to take you on about a 30 minute cruise down the southern coast of Puerto Vallarta to private beach.
Once there, you can jump off of the catamaran to walk/swim in, or you can take the small ferry boat into the beach.
The trip is inclusive of all beverages, all snorkeling gear & instruction, and after the trip, you'll cruised up the coast about 15 minutes to a "Robinson Crusoe" feeling private restaurant/beach area. Here, you'll enjoy the awesome beach lunch of grilled chicken, chips & salsa, & more.
The snorkeling trip here in Vallarta is the best we've found in Mexico for sure.
Jungle Tour/Trip to El Eden where they filmed Predator
While you can certainly take an organized tour here, but it's really not necessary to - you can handle this trip on your own with your group. Pack a small bag with a towel & bug spray/Off spray. Don't forget your camera!
Grab a cab to Eden which is directly across from the Mismayola Beach area. Simply ask a cab outside your hotel to take you to the La Jolla de Mismaloya hotel. Then, walk across the street - you'll see some cheesy signs with renditions of Arnold Schwarzenegger on them for the location.
Here, grab a cab to take you down the rickety old road about 10 to 15 minutes back to the river with its waterfalls & the restaurant. Go in and buy your lunch at the restaurant so you can use their facilities...about $10 per person, and it's fairly good food actually.
The restaurant has a beautiful setting overlooking the water falls, and you can see all the rope swings. When you're done with lunch, ask to go down swimming... You can climb on the waterfalls, swim in the little lagoon, cliff jump, or use the rope swings - the water is refreshing, and crystal clear.
This is a great little mini adventure that is really worth the few dollars in cab fare it will cost you. Expect to pay about $10 per person for the roundtrip cab fare to / from the hotel zone, another $5 per person for the cab down the mountain road and back, and $10 as mentioned for the good lunch.
Sea Live Waterpark
Yes, we know on your spring break trip you'll certainly hang by the pool for much of the days, but Puerto Vallarta has a very unique, first class waterpark.
One of the highlights of the waterpark is the horizontal slide that consists of a semi-soft rubber backing, with three bumps you actually catch some air on. Ask at your hotel for the costs to grab a cab there, admission is fairly cheap.
This is a great way to catch a killer tan, as you'll be in the water, and no so hot. The roundtrip cab will be about $7 per person, and the admission is about $20 per person. For about $125 per person, you can also swim with the dolphins in the interactive marina tank/pool area.
